The default username/password is the same for both the Areca ethernet interface and the “archttp” HTTP proxy.
username: admin password: 0000
This has been true for all of the arc-1170 and arc-1280 cards that I have regardless of the firmware version.

Hello Josh.
I just built a new file server and inserted an ARC-1170 that had been unused for over a year. When I try to access the BIOS management, it asks for a password. I have been searching for the last 2 days and cannot find that password or how to reset it. I did find what was touted to be a master password in several locations on the web but that did not work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

(Note – I have not used an Areca controller for many years now so my recollection may be faulty) The Areca controllers have a built in webserver for management. This is accessed directly through the ethernet port on the card and, I suspect, that the local management software is merely a proxy/pass through to the same interface across the PCI[x] bus. If the admin password was changed from the default and lost I think you can reset it from the PCI option rom menus.
